Post lipoedema operation

Pre-and post-lipoedema exstraction operation helps to ease pain, reduce, swelling and support the healing process.

After the operation, bruising is common as the body begins its healing journey and that's where gentle, supportive lymphatic drainage can really help.

I support to help ease the transition and healing.

The best way is to have one MLD treatment before the operation and then after. A benefit of pre operation treatment is to reduce swelling and fluid build up after the  surgery but even only post operation treatment helps for recovery.

Lymphatic drainage is designed to reduce swelling, ease discomfort, - is the reason it works so well for post surgery or trauma recovery.

Lymphatic drainage encourages lymph flow, helping the body clear excess fluid, toxins and supports your body's natural repair process

My lymphatic drainage treatment is personalized to your health history and current conditions. Please note that your treatment plan may vary depending on your health history and current conditions, and certain therapies, such as low level laser therapy, compression bandages may not be suitable for everyone.

  • Manual lymphatic drainage
MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the the body. It should NOT be confused with a traditional massage. MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid.

Deep Diaphragmatic Breathing in MLD Treatment
Deep diaphragmatic breathing plays a crucial role in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) treatment. It helps move lymph fluid back into the bloodstream by pressing the lungs against the thoracic duct, which enhances lymph drainage, especially from the lower body.
While muscle movement aids the lymphatic system, deep breathing is equally important. The diaphragm's movement during deep breaths assists in returning lymphatic fluid to the bloodstream and supports blood flow back to the heart.

  • Remedial Massage to be improved ROM (Range Of Motion)

Enhance Range of Motion (ROM) and prevent fluid accumulation around joints caused by limited ROM. While remedial massage is included in the MLD treatment, it is typically minimal. If you would like a more extensive massage, please consider booking a session longer than 60 minutes.

  • Lower Level Laser Therapy
-What is LLLT?-Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as cold laser therapy, is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses infrared light to stimulate healing, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation. Unlike surgical lasers, LLLT does not cut or burn—it works by delivering light energy deep into the tissues to support the body’s natural recovery process.
Picture
-How Does It Work?-

LLLT uses a 904-nanometer wavelength, which allows the infrared light to penetrate deeply without causing heat or discomfort. This stimulates cellular activity, reducing swelling, easing pain, and promoting tissue repair—making it a great addition to both remedial massage and lymphatic drainage treatments.
-Who Can Benefit?-
  • Lymphedema (helps reduce swelling)
  • Post-mastectomy scar softening & tissue release
  • Reduces stiffness & oedema in affected areas
-Is LLLT Safe?-

Yes! My laser device is FDA (US) & TGA (AUS) approved, ensuring it is safe and effective—especially for lymphedema care. The treatment is painless, with no downtime, making it a gentle option for supporting recovery and well-being.

-What to Expect?-
Each session is customized to your needs and may be combined with remedial massage or lymphatic drainage therapy for enhanced results.
Results may vary depending on individual health, condition severity, and treatment consistency.
  • Compression bandage for temporary oedema, post-exercise recovery, or muscle tension
Picture
Compression bandaging is an component of lymphatic drainage therapy, particularly for individuals with conditions such as lymphoedema and oedema. The goal of using compression bandages is to support the lymphatic system in reducing swelling, improving circulation, and preventing fluid build-up.

What I apply is short-term compression bandaging during treatment, which provides temporary support to enhance the effects of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). This quick application aids in reducing mild swelling, improving localized circulation, and offering relief for conditions such as temporary oedema, post-exercise recovery, or muscle tension, while still allowing the body to naturally maintain its lymphatic flow post-treatment.

I am a qualified Decongestive Lymphatic Drainage Therapist, trained to apply these techniques safely and effectively, tailoring each treatment to your unique needs.

※If you are considering compression bandages or garments for lymphoedema or lipoedema management, please discuss your options with your therapist, Meg. Please note that additional costs may apply.
The lymphatic system is the most ignored part of the circulatory system, which is unfortunate as it plays a major role in health and disease.
